***Important travel information***
Please see below for important passport and travel visa information that may go into affect mid-2025 that could be applicable for traveling to France!
Passport
The most commonly missed travel task is making sure your passport is up-to-date. Your passport must be AT LEAST 6 months or more from it's expiration date. If it is under 6 months from the expiration date, you may not be allowed on your flight to Europe. It takes roughly 8 weeks to get your passport, so make sure to start this process ASAP!
Visa
March 17, 2025 Update - The ETIAS visa has been postponed to 2027. You do NOT need to worry about this visa!
Coming soon: The new regulations are called the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). When the system launches in early-to-mid 2025, it will require all visitors who currently travel to Europe visa-free, such as citizens from the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, to apply for travel authorization and receive approval prior to their departure.
The cost of the visa is 7 Euros ($7.70 USD). ETIAS is not a visa in the traditional sense; it only requires a quick online application, with approval delivered via email. In order to receive authorization, visitors must fill out an online form providing details about their basic biographical information, travel plans and travel history, as well as other security questions
Flights
Most airlines do not open flights until a year out. Some airlines already have flights available, with more airlines opening up soon!
The best airport to fly into is Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport. You can take the train (with one train change) from the airport to Amiens, France - roughly an hour train ride. If you go this route, make sure to book your train for "Amiens Ville". There is an AVIS car rental at the Amiens train station. Alternative methods include renting a car (~1 hour drive from Paris to the Chateau) or rideshare.
You can also take the train from Paris to Abbeville, and then rent or take a taxi to the Chateau. There is also an AVIS car rental at the Abbeville train station!
Additionally, you can fly into London and take the Eurostar train from London to Lille (1 hour 30 minute ride), and then change trains to Amiens, France (1 hour 17 minute ride) or rent a car from Lille to Amiens (1 hour 30 min drive)
